Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
On behalf of the Academy and our IT Provider, we have chosen a new insurance provider for our 1:1 Chromebook Program. We have also transitioned our Chromebook Contract and Acceptable Use Policy to be reviewed and signed online.
ALL PARENTS USING TABLETS for Younger Grades AND ALL STUDENTS IN GRADES 3-8 must sign and complete this Device Contract & Acceptable Use Policy before Friday, 9/22/22: https://sgtgca.org/chromebook-contract-and-aup/
When the Academy needed to transition to distance learning in March of 2020, we were easily able to do so, thanks to our 1:1 Technology plan, which has been in place since 2016. Students and Teachers were already comfortable using Google and Google Chromebooks to continue their day-to-day academic learning.
For students in grades 3-8, device insurance is available through “Securranty.” We highly recommend purchasing the device insurance, whether you have a new or older Chromebook from the Academy. If we transition to remote learning again, there is very little we can do to fix computer issues. Having an insurance policy that will allow families to DIRECTLY deal with an agency to get repairs completed will be invaluable. Parents/Guardians will be able to process their own claims, and you will be placing the claims and be responsible for sending out your broken device for repair. We personally feel this will be easier for families, as it will quicken the process for device repairs.
As written in the Chromebook Contract provided by the Academy, without insurance, if your child’s Chromebook is damaged, dropped, lost, stolen, or vandalized, you will have to pay extra fees ($275 per Chromebook) to replace the device.
Please visit https://securranty.com/sgtgca to enroll in insurance today. There is a $0 deductible as well. Also, see below for a flyer to review what the insurance covers.
